s1m0n3lab is a minimalist web project, immersed in a dark, pixelated aesthetic. Squared blocks, stark contrasts: a simple black canvas on which to carve what I observe in this new, horrifying digital reality. Only with HTML and CSS, without JavaScript.

[EN] This project was created as an exploration of simplicity and digital purity. The goal is to rediscover the essence of the early web, when websites were personal, creative, and free from distractions. By reducing the design to the bare minimum, the experience becomes more direct, fast, and meaningful. The idea was inspired by several creators from the Neocities community, formerly Geocities, and by the desire to relive an era when the internet felt genuine and fun. Today, browsing the web often means facing pop-ups, cookie banners, privacy warnings, and intrusive ads before even reaching the actual content, content that often loses its soul in the process. s1m0n3lab was built to bring back that lost simplicity and to remind us that even the smallest, most minimal page can still run smoothly on an old AMD computer with Windows 98 or XP, proving that digital beauty doesn’t need excess..

[IT] Questo progetto nasce come un’esplorazione della semplicità e della purezza digitale. L’obiettivo è riscoprire l’essenza del web delle origini, quando i siti erano personali, creativi e liberi da distrazioni. Riducendo il design all’essenziale, l’esperienza diventa più diretta, veloce e significativa. L’idea prende ispirazione da diversi creatori della comunità di Neocities, un tempo Geocities, e dal desiderio di rivivere un’epoca in cui Internet era autentico e divertente.
