S1M0N3LAB was born from a pause and a realization. After years developing the S1M0N3 project on YouTube, exploring Linux, retrogaming, and digital culture, I understood that I was repeating a formula that no longer represented me. Every video started to look like another variation of something already made, maybe with my own tone, but still trapped inside the same pattern.

Today, platforms like YouTube have become massive collections of videos that all look and sound the same, designed more for algorithms than for people. Curiosity and experimentation have been replaced by trends, formats, and statistics. Creative freedom has been replaced by performance. I needed to stop, take a breath, and return to something honest, spontaneous, and light.

S1M0N3LAB is my digital workshop, a place where I can experiment freely, where I simply record what I actually do in my spare time. There are no strict formats or complex edits, just me and my desktop. What appears on screen is my daily interaction with technology: customizing a Linux system, launching an old game, exploring forgotten corners of the web, or testing new tools just for curiosity. Everything happens naturally, without scripts or rules, only the wish to share what I enjoy doing.

This project also reflects my decision to stay coherent with a low-tech philosophy, to resist the cycle of planned obsolescence that constantly pushes us to buy faster and more expensive computers just to scroll websites or play videos. You don’t need the latest hardware to create, to think, or to have fun. I enjoy bringing old business laptops back to life through Linux, showing that technology can still be sustainable, efficient, and deeply human.

My videos are simple, raw, and direct. They invite you into a digital space that feels different precisely because it is real. It is a quiet corner away from the noise, far from the endless talk shows and algorithmic chaos that have turned YouTube into a new kind of television. S1M0N3LAB is a return to the roots, a personal experiment to rediscover what it means to live the internet as a laboratory instead of a stage. S1M0N3LAB nasce da una pausa e da una presa di coscienza. Dopo anni dedicati allo sviluppo del progetto S1M0N3 su YouTube, tra Linux, retrogaming e cultura digitale, mi sono reso conto che stavo continuando a inseguire un formato che non mi apparteneva più. Ogni video sembrava l’ennesima variazione di qualcosa già visto, un contenuto che finiva per somigliare a molti altri, diverso solo nella voce ma uguale nella sostanza.

Oggi le piattaforme come YouTube sono diventate enormi vetrine di video costruiti per piacere agli algoritmi. Non esistono più curiosità e sperimentazione, ma tendenze da seguire, format da replicare, strategie da ottimizzare. La libertà creativa è stata sostituita da un ciclo di numeri, analisi e performance. Così ho deciso di fermarmi, di togliere il superfluo e di tornare a creare come facevo all’inizio, con leggerezza e spontaneità.

S1M0N3LAB è il mio laboratorio digitale, un luogo dove posso sperimentare senza schemi, dove registro quello che faccio davvero nel mio tempo libero. Niente format rigidi o montaggi complessi, solo me e il mio desktop. Ciò che vedrai è la mia quotidianità davanti a un computer: una distro Linux da personalizzare, un vecchio gioco da avviare, una pagina nascosta del web da esplorare, un software da provare per curiosità. Tutto senza pretesa, solo con la voglia di condividere.

Ho scelto di farlo anche per coerenza con la filosofia low-tech, per oppormi a quella corsa forzata all’obsolescenza programmata che ci spinge a comprare macchine sempre più potenti anche solo per scrollare un sito o guardare un video. Non serve un supercomputer per pensare, creare o divertirsi. Ho imparato a riportare in vita laptop business di qualche anno fa con Linux, e continuo a farlo per dimostrare che la tecnologia può essere sostenibile, essenziale e viva.

I miei video non sono raffinati, ma autentici: grezzi, diretti, capaci di riportarti in un mondo “nuovo” fatto di semplicità e di curiosità, lontano dai talk-show infiniti e dai contenuti-vetrina che popolano oggi YouTube, una piattaforma ormai più simile alla televisione di un tempo che a un vero spazio di libertà. S1M0N3LAB è un ritorno all’origine, un esperimento personale che vuole riscoprire il gusto di vivere internet come un laboratorio, non come un palcoscenico. Se anche tu senti che la rete ha bisogno di respirare, sei nel posto giusto.
